National Assembly Deputy Speaker Marina Ragus - Interview for "Shenzhen TV"

In the course of the working visit to the People's Republic of China, National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee Marina Ragus, who headed the parliamentary delegation, had an interview for "Shenzhen TV", in which she said that Shenzhen is an outstanding example of how a place can develop from a small fishing village to a city with a high GDP and standard of living.

The Deputy Speaker stressed that she believes the Free Trade Agreement will lead to the creation of new jobs for both nations. Also, according to the Agreement, customs duties on various types of goods between the two countries will be significantly reduced, some even reaching zero, which is an excellent opportunity to boost trade between Serbia and China, as well as between Serbia and the city of Shenzhen, which can be beneficial to both countries and their citizens.

When asked if our country considers cooperation with the city’s companies that produce last generation electric vehicles such as "BYD" and what forms of cooperation could be achieved, Ragus said that what impressed her most is the light transport system vehicle. She said that in the last few years, Serbia has started to develop smart infrastructure, and she hopes that thanks to this visit it will be able to learn from Shenzhen’s experience of.

Finally, she said that she looks forward to strengthening ties and cooperation between cities like Shenzhen and Belgrade in the future in areas such as building smart cities and villages, supporting digital infrastructure, and that we should apply the examples of good practice learned from Shenzhen companies and their spirit of commitment towards the business to realise the vision and success in a short period of time.
